Unproudly South African...

As a 20 year old female living in South Africa, I have learned a lot of our history from primary school to high school, until I got to varsity and I was blown away about how fucked up our country is, the rest of the world feels sorry for us because we were victimized by Apartheid, but one thing people everywhere are missing, is that shit is long over!!!!

The one thing that amazes me is the "township tours", if you go in to the township you'll see mostly shakes, if you look closely you'll see a satellite dish (cable) on the top, a very nice big TV inside and a descent car outside, so the only significance is the wool that they are pulling over the world's eyes. How come we never heard of "Manenberg tours", cause the only difference is you might not make it out alive, you know the place where real poor people live.

I find it interesting how the world can know the history of Apartheid, but if you asked them about District Six settlement they will stare at you blankly so don't claim you know it, cause you just missed half of it.

There is one South African I will always admire, the great Nelson Mandela, for those who do not know who he is, he is the man who put his life on the line (amongst others) to fight for a fair and impartial society and government in this country......has he succeeded? well he has until he stepped down from presidency.  We have young black South African's still trying to victimize themselves BUT please for the sake of Mandela, how the hell did you suffer? I don't recall you running away from the police while they shooting bullets, or getting beat up for being on the wrong side of the beach, or locked up for not carrying your 'dompass', please people get your damn heads out your ass!!  Nelson Mandela, Steve Biko, Ellen Kuzwayo etc, these are the people who fought and have given their lives to a democracy and restorative justice, and yet we have idiots spreading violent strikes, inconveniencing everyone else, and putting so much lives at risk, we have a government who encourages such barbaric behaviour,  so really, how much has this country changed and will it ever get better?...... I don't see the proudly South African logo floating around because unless we get EDUCATED people running our land on the morals of democracy, I'll be trying my best to make a success out of the little but sufficient opportunity these great people have fought for.... how about you?
